Several of my earlier articles on Peru were tied to the anniversary
of the South American Handbook, which celebrated its 80th
birthday in 2003/4 — the longest-running guidebook in the
English language.
The above article on the Handbook in Geographical (the magazine of the Royal
Geographic Society), was published in the September 2003 issue. It mentioned various aspects of Peru's development over the years.
A second article appeared in the November 2003 issue Global in the UK. For the PDF (2Mb), go here. Another was in the Winter issue of South American Explorer in the US.
An article appeared on This Is Travel, the travel website of the Daily Mail and the London Evening Standard in October 2003, titled "Off the Beaten Inca Trail". Go here for that.
I'm also working on an article about the remarkable Cuzqueño photographer, Martin Chambi. That will appear some time soon in South American Explorer in the US. In the meantime, you can view some of Chambi's beautiful shots of Cuzco and the land of the Incas at this site.
A further article on Peru appeared in Global in the UK in May 2004. It's my favourite of all (I think!). Text here. |
